The story behind the jewel

The porcelain Marcel bowls, inspired by Marcel Broodthaers’ Mosselpot, are about as typical Wouters & Hendrix as it gets. Drawn by the poetry of ordinary objects in unfamiliar contexts, Wouters & Hendrix has been playing around with mussel-shaped charms in their La Fête des Bêtes collection. This stronghold of the jewellery collection now becomes a lustrous black porcelain bowl called “Marcel” (after Broodthaers).

Since 1984, Wouters & Hendrix has taken shape in a continuous dialogue with surrealist symbolism and outstanding craft in their Antwerp atelier. Now they venture into new territory with the launch of their first-ever home jewellery collection, in collaboration with Belgian brand Serax: “Les Objets Mouleversants”, a line of tabletop treasures characterised by the same irreverent spirit of playful subversion and artistic exploration that defines their jewellery.
