Our atelier

Our design studio is located in the attic of what was once the storeroom of the Antwerp liqueur distillery Elixir d’Anvers. Boxes are stacked floor to ceiling.  As you would expect, there is a lot of jewellery.  But there are also clippings, little jokes, souvenirs, photographs and many flea market finds.  When Wouters & Hendrix design, it is all about corporality. It is tinkering, playing and experimenting, each at their own workbench.  They never sketch on paper but in scraps of silver, copper or whatever material is lying around.  Working with your hands focuses the mind, it helps to paraphrase the stories floating around into colours, techniques and materials.

One floor down, our atelier team of ten goldsmiths crafts every single one of our designs by hand.  Blending time-honoured techniques with unexpected  materials and innovative solutions, they materialize our fascination with handcrafted jewellery and conjure up the design studio’s ideas. Retaining our production in-house allows us to keep our exceptional knowhow  alive, experiment with techniques and offer our clients an impeccable after-sales service. And above all, it makes for a unique touch in every jewel, mirroring the goldsmith’s hands.
